On3’s Steve Wiltfong is one of the best in the recruiting business, and he just predicted the Michigan Wolverines to land a five-star edge rusher in the 2026 class:
Michigan’s 2026 recruiting class is starting to come together. The Wolverines have received verbal commitments from four players this week alone, with the latest being four-star offensive tackle Malakai Lee on Friday night. After all those commitments, Michigan now owns the No. 11 ranked overall class in the cycle.
And it appears the hot streak isn’t ending anytime soon. On3’s Steve Wiltfong — one of the best recruiting experts in the industry — just logged a prediction for the Wolverines to land one of their top defensive targets in the class, four-star edge rusher Carter Meadows .
A Top-75 overall prospect on 247Sports’ composite and a five-star prospect according to On3, Meadows is a 6-foot-6, 225-pound edge rusher from Gonzaga High School in Washington D.C. He took official visits this month to South Carolina, Penn State and Ohio State before taking his official to Ann Arbor the final weekend in June.
No timeline has been provided, but with Wiltfong logging this prediction, good news could be on the way in the near future for Sherrone Moore and company. At the very least, Meadows should be close to locking in a decision date.
“They’re definitely high on my list,” Meadows told On3 following his official visit to Michigan. “A lot of interest in them. I think their balance of high-level academics and high-level athletics it balances pushes them forward.”
Should he commit to the Wolverines, he would be the top-ranked prospect in Michigan’s 2026 class, right ahead of four-star quarterback Brady Smigiel. Carter would also join an already-loaded defensive line group, as Lou Esposito already has commitments from four-stars Titan Davis, McHale Blade and Alister Vallejo, as well as three-star Tariq Boney.
All in all, Meadows would be an incredible addition to the Wolverines’ 2026 class and would only raise the ceiling even higher than it already is. Stay locked in with Maize n Brew for more developments in this recruitment.
