Jadyn Davis was once seen as the QB of the future for Michigan Football. What is his outlook like now? Today, we look at his path to Ann Arbor and what 2025 may have in store for the redshirt freshman:
For the second straight offseason, the Michigan Wolverines have a legitimate competition going on at the quarterback position. Most assume that five-star true freshman Bryce Underwood will eventually pull away with the job, but Jadyn Davis certainly has something to say about that.
The story so far
Davis was a four-star high school prospect (No. 93 overall on the 247Sports composite) in the 2024 class out of Providence Day in Charlotte, North Carolina. Davis has a prolific high school career, garnering a 24-2 record as a starter at Providence Day across two seasons and won two state championships. He won North Carolina Mr. Football, as well as the Gatorade North Carolina Player of the Year in 2022 and 2023.
During his senior season, Davis completed 204-of-288 passes for 3,370 yards and 43 touchdowns. He also ran for an additional three touchdowns.

But that high school success didn’t immediately translate to the college level. In fact, Davis only played *one* snap at Michigan as a true freshman in 2024, handing the ball off to running back Tavierre Dunlap who took it to the house against Northwestern.
Outlook for 2025
With Underwood on Team Blue, Davis got the start in the Michigan spring game for Team Maize. The result — 6-of-17 passing for 74 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions. He also took four sacks. It wasn’t all negative, but there was a lot more bad than good.
Davis will continue to battle against Underwood this summer. He will face even more competition once Fresno State transfer Mikey Keene is healthy enough to fully return to practice after missing all of spring ball due to an undisclosed injury.
The expectation is that once Keene is healthy, he will be the one truly competing with Underwood to be the starting quarterback, with the loser of that battle being QB2 this season. With all that in mind, expect 2025 to be another year where Davis acclimates to the college game and doesn’t see the field much, if at all.
