Two former Wolverines hit season-high marks in the NBA this week while the injury bug bit another.
It was a great week of NBA action for several former Michigan Wolverines stars. Two set season-high marks in scoring, while another continued a streak of 20-plus point performances. Sadly, the injury bug bit Duncan Robinson as he’s missed Miami’s last four matchups with a bad back. However, all in it was still a successful week for the Wolverine contingent in the professional ranks.
Tim Hardaway Jr. takes over for the Detroit Pistons
With Cade Cunningham temporarily on the shelf with a leg injury, the Pistons have had to look for alternative sources of scoring. In steps Tim Hardaway Jr.

On Friday night against the East-leading Cleveland Cavaliers , Hardaway Jr. set a season-high in scoring with 32 points as he led Detroit in scoring. Of those 32 points, 21 came from behind the three-point line as he shot a miraculous 7-of-11 from deep. Hardaway Jr. backed that game up with a 20-point performance on Sunday in Minnesota. The veteran guard has proven to be capable when called upon this season for the ascending Pistons.
Caleb Houstan sets a season-high in scoring
Since the middle of March, Houstan’s minutes have exploded thanks to various injuries in Orlando. His play has been middling as he tends to disappear at times. However, on Saturday against Sacramento he showed up in a big way with 18 points, all of which scored from deep as he was 6-of-7 from the field.
Caleb continues to be just a shooter at the NBA level but his shooting percentage has increased each year he’s been in the league. As a rookie he shot just 33.8 percent from three, but last year he shot 37.3 percent, and this year he sits at 39.3 percent.
Franz Wagner scores 20+ in eight straight games
The Franz Wagner hype train continues to steam ahead at break-neck speed. The young forward has ascended into stardom rather quickly and is now the 13th-highest scorer in the entire NBA at 24.2 points per game.
In each of Orlando’s last eight games, Wagner has scored 20 or more points every single time. He hasn’t scored fewer than 15 points since early February and hasn’t been in single digits since November. Not only that, but he continues to lead the Magic in assists and is fourth on the team in rebounding.
