Former Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh denied any wrongdoing in Michigan’s sign-stealing scandal during the 2023 season.
Harbaugh is one of seven people from the 2023 Michigan team accused of committing a Level 1 violation, the biggest in the NCAA punishment process. According to ESPN , the NCAA thinks Harbaugh didn’t cooperate with the investigation because he denied a request to view text messages and recent calls in his phone.
“Never lie. Never cheat. Never steal. I was raised with that lesson,” Harbaugh said, via ESPN’s Kris Rhim .
ESPN’s Paul Finebaum saw that quote and gave Harbaugh a new nickname, comparing him to Jack Nicholson.
“It’s an Oscar-winning performance, Greeny,” Finebaum said . “I had a lot of different emotions. I wanted to throw all kinds of adjectives up on the board. I wanted to label him as a pathological liar, as someone who’s delusional. But I can’t do it anymore because I think he in many ways is the Jack Nicholson of coaching. He’s a man for all seasons.”
Harbaugh continues to not worry about the situation since he’s trying to help the Chargers get ready for the 2024 NFL season.
He became their head coach shortly after leading Michigan to a national title this past season.
