NCAA 2025: Michigan vs. UC San Diego Recap

March 21, 2025 by UM Hoops

There’s a certain point in a classic NCAA Tournament game when you lose track of everything that’s happening. The crowd roars from all directions, cheering the drama as much as any team, and the shots and whistles blend together. Then the buzzer sounds and one team goes home while the other celebrates.

Those final moments balance uncut chaos and the reality of what a team has been for the entire year.

Michigan’s 68-65 win over UC San Diego perfectly encapsulates its season. The Wolverines led for all but a dozen seconds, blew a 15-point lead, turned it over way too much, almost let the whole thing slip away, and then figured out a way to win anyway.

It was also complete madness.

It feels like this team can’t keep getting away with it, winning its 13th game by 4 points or less, but they figured out a way to earn at least one more chance.
