For the fourth straight week, the Michigan women’s basketball team is ranked in the AP Poll, but the men’s team is no longer ranked:
The Michigan Wolverines are ranked No. 23 in this week’s Associated Press women’s colelge basketball poll, behind Big Ten opponents UCLA (No. 1 ), USC (No. 5), Ohio State (No. 11) and Michigan State (No. 17) and ahead of Iowa (No. 24) and Nebraska (No. 25).
This is the fourth week in a row that Michigan women’s basketball is ranked in the AP Poll, debuting at No. 23 at Week 5 before following that up with a No. 20 ranking in Week 6 and 7 .
The Wolverines jumped one spot up to No. 23 in the poll after going 1-1 this week, losing to No. 10 Oklahoma in Charlotte and throttling Akron at home. Freshman Mila Holloway led the way with 20 points in the Oklahoma loss, while senior Greta Kampschroeder led the Wolverines with 23 points off 5/9 shooting from three in the Akron win.
After being ranked the past two weeks, the men’s team was unranked in this week’s poll. The Wolverines lost at the last second to No. 13 Oklahoma before handling Purdue Fort Wayne at home .
The women’s team boasts a 10-2 record, with a 1-0 record in conference after beating Northwestern. The Wolverines have a big test this weekend, as they travel to California to take on Juju Watkins and No. 5 USC. That game on Sunday, Dec. 29, is set to tip-off at 10 p.m. EST and will be broadcast on Big Ten Network.
Sunday Night will feature a BTN doubleheader for Michigan fans. The men’s team has a 9-3 record with conference wins over Wisconsin and Iowa. Their final non-conference game is this weekend, as they host Western Kentucky for their final buy game of the season. That game is set tip off at 8 p.m.
