What a finish in Ann Arbor!
In an old school back-and-forth between two of college football’s most storied programs, Sherrone Moore and the Michigan Wolverines were able to score a huge win over No. 11 USC on a 4th & Goal play from the goal line.
Michigan’s game plan was clear from the beginning — they were going to run the ball and force the Trojans to stop it. The Wolverines pounded the rock 46 times behind the legs of Kalel Mullings, Donovan Edwards and quarterback Alex Orji.
Orji only threw the ball 12 times the entire game, completing seven of those attempts for 32 yards.
As successful as Lincoln Riley and Co. were at times on offense, it was clear that UM was just a bit too much in the trenches for SC to handle.
Safe to say this one was the talk of the night amongst college football fans:
“INSTANT CLASSIC!” Michigan Football said. “#GoBlue.”
“getting ready to hear ‘we’re so back’ from every michigan fan ever,” Annie Agar posted.
“Michigan beat USC with just 32 passing yards and a final drive that ended with a power running game TD. Literal definition of Big Ten hazing,” RedditCFB commented.
“Michigan just ran the ball the entire game and beat #11 USC. Lincoln Riley needs to take a long and hard look in the mirror,” College Football Report replied.
“The haters said Michigan couldn’t throw the ball worth [expletive]. And they were correct,” James T. Yoder said. “Honestly great call from the haters … But they forgot about Kalel Mullings. Michigan wins!!”
It’s hard to imagine a much better finish to these school’s first meeting in the Big Ten (unless maybe if you’re a USC fan).
Michigan improves to 3-1 with the win and will host Minnesota in The Big House next week.
