Michigan transfer Tarris Reed has decided to leave Ann Arbor for Storrs, Connecticut.
Reed told Joe Tipton of On3 that he has committed to UConn. That’s a huge addition to the frontcourt for the two-time defending champs.
This past season, Reed averaged 9.0 points and 7.2 rebounds per game for the Wolverines.
The former four-star recruit from Link Academy had no issue revealing why he chose UConn.
“I chose UConn for its winning culture, commitment to player development and coaching style,” Reed told On3 . “Coach Hurley’s tough coaching style is known for pushing players into uncomfortable situations, making the uncomfortable seem comfortable. UConn provides the ideal setting and coaching for me to maximize my potential both on and off the court.”
Shortly after UConn defeated Purdue in the national title game, Hurley talked about the program’s roster construction for the 2024-25 season.
“We had some preliminary conversations about the roster and what we anticipated, I think, from a graduation and a going-to-the-NBA standpoint, I think we’re pretty aware of what’s that gonna look like,” Hurley said. “We want to construct the roster in a very similar way to the last two. It worked.”
UConn is losing star big man Donovan Clingan to the NBA. It’s also possible that Stephon Castle goes pro this summer.
Landing a talented player like Reed should help UConn remain a national title contender.
