One of the best shooters in the portal garners interest from Michigan.
There are some important names on campus this weekend for Dusty May and the Michigan Wolverines , but that has not stopped their pursuit of talent in the first stage of the transfer portal.
According to a report from The Athletic’s Tobias Bass, Colby Rogers, one of the best scoring guards in the transfer portal, will have a Zoom call with Michigan with intent to visit Ann Arbor.

Wherever Rogers ends up will be the fourth program he has joined in six years of college. He began his career in 2019-2020 at Cal Poly and had an extra year of eligibility added because of COVID-19.
In 2021-2022, Rogers transferred to Siena averaging 4.1 points per game and converting at a 42.9% clip from behind the arc – ranking eighth nationally. Then, Rodgers re-entered the portal and went to Wichita State where he had to sit out a season due to a second transfer – his redshirt season. Last year, Rogers started all 34 games leading the Shockers with 16.4 points per contest, shooting 40.0% from the field and 40.9% from deep.
Now, he seeks yet another college home as a grad transfer and is garnering interest from some of the top programs in the country. One is close to his current home, in Lawrence as the Kansas Jayhawks have also touched base. Nate Oats and Alabama, a program that is always aggressive in the portal, also plan on a Zoom call and visit.
Michigan currently has a dearth of shooting prowess on their roster. Adding a confident and efficient shooter like Rogers is exactly what May and his staff need, especially at the guard position after the departure of last year’s leading scorer Dug McDaniel.
