Michigan and Texas are two of the most storied programs in college football history with some of the greatest teams in history having graced their stadiums. But after the years they just had, NFL teams wanted as many of their players as they could get their hands on.

That’s exactly what happened in the 2024 NFL Draft as both Michigan and Texas set new school records for draft picks. Michigan led all schools with 13 Wolverines taken in the draft, while Texas finished in a tie for second with 11 Longhorns seeing their NFL dreams come true.

Wolverines quarterback J.J. McCarthy led the way for his school, going No. 10 overall to the Minnesota Vikings, who traded up in the first round to secure his services. Six of his teammates would get taken between rounds two and three, while the remaining six heard their names called on Saturday. Thus far, four more have signed as undrafted free agents.

The Longhorns saw two of their players get drafted in the first round – cornerback Byron Murphy II to Seattle and wide receiver Xavier Worthy to Kansas City. Three more Texas players went in round two alone, while the other six got drafted between rounds four and seven.

Michigan went 15-0 and won the national championship in 2024, bringing head coach Jim Harbaugh a title in what was ultimately his final year with the team.

Texas’ 12-2 season saw them win the Big 12 title for the first time in 15 years and deliver the final loss in Tuscaloosa that Nick Saban ever suffered.
