The Wolverines are one of 12 teams that have reached out to the former Aggie.
Michigan has reached out to former five-star recruit and former Texas A&M safety Jacoby Mathews, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3. The Wolverines aren’t alone, as Ohio State , Penn State, Washington and Colorado are just a few other teams expressing interest in him.

Mathews played two seasons with Texas A&M. During his sophomore season in 2023, Mathews started nine games and appeared in 11. He had a season-high eight tackles against LSU last season, while also recording half a sack in that game. In total last year, he had 42 tackles and one interception.
With the likes of Quinten Johnson and Makari Paige on Michigan’s roster, Michigan is likely looking for someone to help fill the void that comes with the loss of Rod Moore with his knee injury. Mathews would certainly be a nice get for the Wolverines at this position, considering he has the requisite experience against some of the best players in all of college football in the SEC the last two years.
The Wolverines are competing with other programs that may be able to offer Mathews more playing time, but his talent would certainly help the Wolverines improve an already talented secondary.
