With 2026 four-star top-100 RB Javian Osborne canceling his official visit to Texas, the Michigan Wolverines have surged in his recruitment and have landed two predictions from recruiting experts:
Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell appears to have indirectly helped the Michigan Wolverines in the 2026 recruiting cycle. Four-star running back Javian Osborne had a strong relationship with former University of Texas running backs coach Tashard Choice, who was recently hired by Campbell for the same position in the NFL.
This move appears to have assisted Michigan in its recruiting efforts, as Osborne posted on social media on Friday evening that he will no longer be taking an official visit to Texas the weekend of June 13.
I will NOT be taking an Official Visit to Texas weekend of June 13th-15th‼️@SWiltfong_ @ChadSimmons_ @adamgorney @samspiegs @TomLoy247 @MikeRoach247

This has resulted in the Forney (TX) product being predicted to land with the Wolverines by On3’s EJ Holland. 247Sports University of Texas insider Hank South also cast a prediction for Osborne to commit to Michigan.
With Osborne canceling his mid-June official visit to Texas, Michigan will get the last summer official visit the weekend of June 20th. Osborne is expected to make a final decision shortly after that trip to Michigan.
On top of his official visit in June, Osborne is also anticipated to take an unofficial visit to Michigan this spring. He first visited campus last July for the BBQ at the Big House, and then followed that up with game day visits for the Texas and Oregon games last fall.
Tony Alford and other Michigan coaches were also in the Lone Star State last month to visit him during the recruiting evaluation period.

Per 247Sports’ composite rankings, Osborne is the 60th ranked prospect overall, the ninth ranked player in the state of Texas and the fourth ranked running back in the 2026 class. He is an explosive player at 5-foot-10 and 195 pounds, running for 1,227 yards and 22 touchdowns on 188 carries (6.5 yards per carry) as a junior in 2024. He also caught 10 passes for 167 yards and three touchdowns.
The combination of excellent recruiting by Alford and Michigan’s commitment to running the ball has made Ann Arbor a top destination for players at his position, so it’s no surprise to see the Wolverines doing well with so many running backs on the trail.
Should a commitment come to fruition, Osborne would be the first running back to join the Wolverines’ 2026 class. Michigan is also still pursuing the top running back in the class, five-star Savion Hiter, among others.
The Wolverines currently have two commits in the 2026 class — four-star cornerback Brody Jennings and three-star wide receiver Jaylen Pile.
