The Paw Paw, Michigan native has been a Wolverine since the 2019 season. He saw the field early and often as a true freshman that year, playing two games at left tackle and playing special teams in another contest as well. Just one season later, he started four games at left tackle and played in all six in the shortened 2020 season. He also played right tackle in one game, as he began to show his versatility.

In the Big Ten Championship-winning 2021 season, Barnhart shifted across the offensive line and played some games at left tackle and some at left guard. In 2022, he played one game at left tackle and then took over for Trente Jones at right tackle following an injury in mid-October, where he played the rest of the season.

Barnhart’s play was huge those two seasons, as he helped the Wolverines win back-to-back Joe Moore Awards for the nation’s best offensive line group.

As a fifth-year player in 2023, Barnhart mainly stuck with right tackle, but he did sneak in some time at right guard due to Zak Zinter’s season-ending injury in the win against Ohio State . Barnhart was named an All-Big Ten second-team player by the coaches and a third-team player by the media for his efforts.

All in all, Barnhart played in 43 career games with 24 starts at Michigan over the last two seasons. He appeared at left tackle, left guard, right guard and right tackle, and was a versatile piece of Michigan’s offensive line, a group that earned the Joe Moore Award in 2021 and 2022.

As we do with every Wolverine who opts to head to the pros, we want to wish Barnhart the very best of luck in the NFL.
