Gentry is a former top-100 overall prospect and originally signed with Virginia, but then elected to come to Ann Arbor after the firing of former Virginia head coach Bronco Mendenhall. Gentry played three games as a true freshman in 2022, and then played in all 15 games in 2023.
The junior started two games at right tackle this season for Michigan before suffering a season-ending injury in the October game against Michigan State . He lost the starting role to redshirt freshman Evan Link, but was plugged into the starting lineup following some rough patches from Link. After Gentry’s injury, Link was inserted back into the starting role.
It’s a bummer that Gentry is moving on, as he had a ton of upside and played well during his stint in Ann Arbor. We wish Gentry nothing but the very best at his next destination.
