The Michigan Wolverines are wasting no time looking for players in the latest transfer portal window (April 16-April 30). Today, they offered former Kent State defensive tackle C.J. West.

West — a 6-foot-2, 315-pounder from LaGrange Park, Illinoi (same hometown and high school as J.J. McCarthy and Tyler Morris) — entered the transfer portal after four successful seasons (three as a starter) at Kent State.
A former three-star recruit coming out of high school, West racked up 110 tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks, and one forced fumble during his time as a Golden Flash.
Michigan is in pursuit of West to bolster its defensive tackle rotation with an experienced veteran player similar to the role Cam Goode played the last two years. With two years of eligibility remaining, West could carve out a rotational role in 2024 and compete for starting reps in 2025, assuming that Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant both leave after this year.
