The incoming freshman dropped a big surprise Thursday afternoon.
This is surprising.
A day after projected starting cornerback DJ Waller, a former three-star prospect, entered the transfer portal, a true freshman who hasn’t played a snap for the Michigan Wolverines appears to be on the move as well.
After committing last June, Belleville (Mich.) four-star linebacker Jeremiah Beasley arrived in Ann Arbor in December and enrolled early to participate in bowl prep as Michigan made its run to a national championship.
Beasley had generated a lot of positive attention from the coaching staff between then and spring and was expected to have a bright future under Sherrone Moore and newly hired position coach, Brian Jean-Mary.
However, on Thursday, there appears to be a new reality as Beasley is reportedly getting out of his letter of intent and transferring elsewhere:
BREAKING: Michigan True Freshman LB Jeremiah Beasley has signed the papers necessary to enter the Transfer Portal, he tells @on3sports
The 6’2 235 LB from Belleville, MI will have all 4 years of eligibility remaining

Beasley was ranked as the 399th-best player in the country, No. 36 linebacker and No. 9 prospect in the state of Michigan. At Belleville High School, Beasley went to three-straight state championship games, and last season, he posted 120 tackles (57 total) and five sacks in addition to playing running back, rushing 86 times for 893 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Beasley was set to compete for time at linebacker with freshman Cole Sullivan, junior Jimmy Rolder and others in rotational spots behind juniors Ernest Hausmann and Jaishawn Barham. With Beasley gone, the Wolverines have Mason Curtis as the sole 2024 class linebacker.
In addition to the Wolverines, Beasley held offers from Michigan State, Missouri, Penn State, Pitt, and 20 other schools.
