Michigan has landed a commitment form UAB transfer Yaxel Lendeborg, per ESPN.
The 6-foot-9 Pennsauken, NJ native will also go through the NBA Draft process with the hopes of signing a multi-year deal with an NBA franchise, ESPN reported.
“I love the culture Dusty May has brought to every team that he’s coached,” Lendeborg said. “When I first started watching college basketball, it was FAU.”
Lendeborg, a two-time Defensive Player of the Year and first-team All-AAC selection, averaged 17.7 points, 11.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists last season at UAB.
“I’m focused on the draft process and making the NBA right now,” Lendeborg said. “I want a guaranteed contract. That’s the biggest thing. Make sure I am in a good spot. I would prefer to play college basketball in Ann Arbor than be in and out of the G League on a two-way. I want to find a safe spot.”
With Danny Wolf headed to the NBA Draft out of Michigan, Lendeborg would replace him in the post should he withdraw from the draft.
Michigan previously added North Carolina transfer guard Elliot Cadeau and Illinois transfer forward Morez Johnson Jr.
