Michigan fans are in a holding pattern, waiting to see if Jim Harbaugh will leave for the NFL or sign a contract extension to remain in Ann Arbor.
Journalist John U. Bacon, a Michigan alum and insider, isn’t sure what Harbaugh’s next move is, but he’s feeling pretty confident he knows who will be replacing the national champion coach if he goes to the pros.
“Truly nobody knows if Harbaugh will stay at Michigan, but if he does go to the NFL, here are my odds on possible replacements: Brian Kelly: 0% Sherrone Moore: 100% Margin of error: +/- 1%,” Bacon wrote on X/Twitter Tuesday night.

Hedging things a bit, Bacon said in a subsequent tweet that he is only taking an educated guess in saying Moore, Michigan’s offensive coordinator, would replace Harbaugh.
That’s my guess — only a guess.

Harbaugh interviewed with the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday, and is also reportedly in the process of negotiating a possible contract extension with U of M.
According to Yahoo Sports’ Dan Wetzel , one of the issues Harbaugh and the school are working through is contract language that “grants Harbaugh immunity from termination for any finding stemming from multiple current NCAA investigations.”
