Will Notre Dame transfer OL Rocco Spindler play for Michigan in 2025? Reports indicate that’s a possibility but other teams are also in the running.
The pickings from the NCAA transfer portal are dwindling, but solid options have emerged in the aftermath of the CFP National Championship between Ohio State and Notre Dame. One of the Notre Dame players who has entered the portal is offensive linema Rocco Spindler, a Michigan native from Clarkston.
Pete Nakos of On3 Sports reported that Michigan is “a contender” for Spindler along with Indiana, Pitt, Virginia, and Nebraska. Nakos also reported that Spindler isn’t visiting with any teams on Sunday and is working on his final visit schedule.
Spindler started 23 games for Notre Dame at right guard and not only would bring experience to Michigan’s line, he’d bring productivity. Per Lars Hanson from Athlon Sports, Spindler has allowed just two sacks at right guard in over 1,300 career snaps.
Spindler, who’s now a grad transfer with one year of eligibility remaining, was a four-star prospect in the 2021 class and was ranked as the No. 95 overall player in the nation. Michigan was a finalist for Spindler but the lineman chose to play his first four years of college football in South Bend with the Fighting Irish. Spindler is ranked as the No. 63 overall player in the transfer portal by 247 Sports and is the No. 6 rated interior offensive lineman.
