Michigan Hockey found a productive winger in the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining. Here’s the breakdown on the newest addition, Jayden Perron:
The Michigan Wolverines are already focusing on the 2025-26 hockey season. After a disappointing campaign that saw them just miss out on the NCAA Tournament , head coach Brandon Naurato and his staff are bolstering the roster through incoming recruits and the transfer portal.
One of those players in the transfer portal is forward Jayden Perron from the University of North Dakota. According to Cam Robinson of Elite Prospects , Perron is taking his talents to Ann Arbor:

Perron was a productive player in his first two seasons for the Fighting Hawks, recording 21 goals and 16 assists through 70 games. North Dakota was also eliminated in the NCAA Regional Semifinals by none other than the Wolverines during Perron’s freshman year.
A member of the USHL’s Chicago Steel from 2021-23, Perron was teammates with Wolverines such as Adam Fantilli, Luca Fantilli, Michael Hage, Nick Moldenhauer and Hunter Hady. Now, he will team up with former foes as he tries to get Michigan back into the tournament.
Much like the US National Team Development Program, the Steel have been a direct pipeline to Ann Arbor for years now. These two hotbeds, along with the growing number of Canadian players in college hockey (Perron included), Michigan should continue to dominate recruiting efforts for years.
Perron has already played big-time college hockey, and his familiarity with some of the roster should ease his transition. Look for the Carolina Hurricanes ’ third-round draft pick in 2023 to compete for a top-six forward spot next season.
The 5-foot-9, 175-pound right winger has smooth hands, can play on the power play and isn’t afraid to defer to his teammates and play without the puck. Perron is a calm finisher and powerful shooter who should slot in nicely with Naurato’s up-tempo system.
There will likely be more transfers following in Perron’s footsteps in the coming weeks. Until then, enjoy some of Perron’s game highlights from his freshman season:
