Michigan Hockey lost its first player to the transfer portal, as freshman Will Felicio is moving on:
The Michigan Wolverines lost their first player to the transfer portal on Tuesday. Freshman Will Felicio (2G, 7A) has officially entered his name into the portal in search of a new home for the 2025-26 season.
Latest entrants:
Minnesota Duluth F Matthew Perkins (VAN 4th)
Michigan D Will Felicio

Felicio struggled to crack the top six or seven early on as a freshman, but once the injuries started to pile up — coupled with the untimely and unexpected departure of Tim Lovell — Felicio began to show some flashes of potential.
In 25 career games, Felicio tallied 11 points, seven of which came during a four-game heater that began in late January. However, after these four games, he did not score in the final eight games he played.
Felicio marks the first portal departure and the third official departure from the blue line. Senior captain Jacob Truscott has exhausted his eligibility, and Ethan Edwards signed his ELC with the New Jersey Devils last week. Most anticipated Felicio would step into a bigger role next season with Truscott and Edwards leaving, but now the Wolverines must focus on adding another D-man via the portal or rely upon incoming freshmen to immediately play big minutes next season.
Michigan head coach Brandon Naurato have been active this cycle and have already added North Dakota transfer Jayden Perron. The Wolverines will likely remain active to avoid putting such a burden on the young players joining the team next season.
Keep an eye on West Point’s Mac Gadowsky (16G, 26A) and Providence’s Austen May (1G, 13A) as potential transfer defensemen candidates for the Wolverines.
