Even though Sherrone Moore has been the head coach at Michigan for the last nine months, he was serving in his position without an official contract.
Michigan announced on Wednesday that Moore officially signed his contract to be head coach.
“We are excited to announce the full contract for University of Michigan Football Coach Sherrone Moore has been signed by all parties. He is a proven leader and has been a great ambassador during his even-plus years representing Michigan. Our university and athletic department leadership is behind Coach Moore, his coaching staff, and the great student-athletes that compete on the field and in the classroom. We are excited to see our team take the field this Saturday against Arkansas State,” a statement from the school read .
Moore took over for Jim Harbaugh after left for the NFL to coach the Los Angeles Chargers. He had previously served as Harbaugh’s offensive coordinator for the Wolverines and filled in for him as interim head coach during a suspension.
Moore is 1-1 in his first season as head coach and is coming off a loss against Texas this past Saturday. Michigan was dominated throughout that age and ultimately lost by 19, 31-12.
The Wolverines will try to bounce back from that loss when they host the Arkansas State Red Wolves this Saturday before hosting the USC Trojans next week.
Kickoff for this Saturday will be at Noon ET.
