Michigan Football releases 2025 spring roster: Jersey number changes, more

Michigan Football kicked off spring practices on Tuesday, and also released its spring roster for 2025. Here’s everything you need to know, including information on transfers, freshman, as well as size and jersey number changes for returning players:

The Michigan Wolverines took their next big step towards the 2025 season on Wednesday by opening spring practices. Additionally, the program released its new roster for the spring , and there’s plenty to sort through.

The new roster includes information on both incoming transfers and early-enrolling freshmen. Additionally, there’s a whole host of changes with returning players, including some jersey number changes and notable weight changes.

Here’s everything you need to know from the new roster:

Incoming Freshmen

  • CB Shamari Earls – No. 2, 6-foot-2, 203 pounds
  • WR Andrew Marsh – No. 4, 6-foot, 175 pounds
  • LB Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng – No. 12, 6-foot-1, 203 pounds
  • DB Jordan Young – No. 14, 6-foot, 177 pounds
  • QB Bryce Underwood – No. 19, 6-foot-4, 208 pounds
  • RB Donovan Johnson – No. 26, 6-foot, 213 pounds
  • LB Chase Taylor – No. 29, 6-foot-2, 213 pounds
  • Edge Julius Holly – No. 37, 6-foot-4, 224 pounds
  • TE Eli Owens – No. 45, 6-foot-1, 223 pounds
  • DL Travis Moten – No. 57, 6-foot-6, 296 pounds
  • OL Andrew Babalola – No. 65, 6-foot-6, 300 pounds
  • OL Avery Gach – No. 74, 6-foot-5, 274 pounds
  • OL Kaden Strayhorn – No. 75, 6-foot-2, 299 pounds
  • WR Jamar Browder – No. 88, 6-foot-5, 208 pounds
  • DL Bobby Kanka – No. 99, 6-foot-4, 289 pounds

The Wolverines have 15 players enrolling early. About 10 more players expected to join the team in the summer, including offensive lineman Ty Haywood and defensive end Nathaniel Marshall.

Incoming Transfers

  • DL Tre Williams – No. 0, 6-foot-2, 315 pounds
  • DB T.J. Metcalf – No. 7, 6-foot-1, 200 pounds
  • QB Mikey Keene – No. 10, 5-foot-11, 200 pounds
  • DB Caleb Anderson – No. 13, 6-foot-3, 200 pounds
  • WR Donaven McCulley – No. 13, 6-foot-5, 200 pounds
  • RB Justice Haynes – No. 22, 5-foot-11, 205 pounds
  • DB Tevis Metcalf – No. 24, 5-foot-10, 192 pounds
  • LB Troy Bowles – No. 40, 6-foot, 220 pounds
  • DL Damon Payne – No. 44, 6-foot-4, 303 pounds
  • OL Brady Norton – No. 70, 6-foot-3, 275 pounds

Of note for the transfers, offensive lineman Lawrence Hattar and wide receiver Anthony Simpson are not listed on the spring roster. Both players are expected to arrive in the summer.

Notable Jersey Number Changes

  • Senior edge rusher T.J. Guy switched from No. 42 to No. 4, previously held by Micah Pollard.
  • Junior running back Ben Hall switched from No. 28 to No. 7, previously held by Donovan Edwards.
  • Senior defensive tackle Rayshaun Benny switched from No. 26 to No. 55, previously held by Mason Graham.
  • Junior wide receiver Amorion Walker wore No. 1 last year, but currently doesn’t have a number assigned. Linebacker Jaishawn Barham is the only other player on the roster that wears No. 1.
