Legendary Michigan booster and alum Sanford Robertson passed away earlier this month at age 93.
Robertson, who earned bachelor’s and graduate degrees from Michigan in the 1950s before embarking on a successful career in Silicon Valley, was a major donor to the UM Business School as well as the Wolverine football program.
Robertson, the endowed donor of the offensive coordinator position at Michigan, was honored by the program on Sunday afternoon.
“Michigan Football extends its deepest sympathies to the family of Sanford Robertson and the entire team at Francisco Partners,” the program said in a statement on X/Twitter. “A passionate and supportive individual, Sandy was a great Michigan Man and friend of the program as the endowed donor of the Offensive Coordinator position. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.”
In total, Robertson gave $18.8 million to his alma mater, including $10 million to the Ross School of Business.
“Sandy was a visionary entrepreneur, and I am grateful to have had him as a friend and advisor,” said Sharon F. Matusik, the Dean of Business at Michigan Ross. “His steadfast commitment to innovation left an indelible mark on the business world, and his unwavering and historic support of Ross has truly made an impact that will live on for generations.”
Current Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore previously held the position of Sanford Robertson Offensive Coordinator last season after serving as co-OC in 2021 and 2022.
