Michigan Football predicted to get commitment of Top-100 QB recruit

After putting in a prediction earlier this month for Michigan Football to land three-star Nathan Bernhard, On3’s Steve Wiltfong has cast a prediction for the Wolverines to land a Top-100 overall four-star QB in the 2026 class:

There has been much debate regarding which quarterback will be the one to commit to the Michigan Wolverines ’ 2026 recruiting class. On3’s Steve Wiltfong recently put in a prediction for the Michigan Wolverines to land Ohio three-star Nathan Bernhard, but things appear to be changing.

Now, Wiltfong has cast a prediction for Michigan to land the commitment of top-100 overall player, 2026 four-star quarterback Brady Smigiel . He put a 40 percent confidence level behind his pick, indicating some uncertainty, but some optimism as well that Michigan can seal the deal.

Smigiel was in town this weekend for the Michigan spring game, and his father, Joe, had good things to tell Wiltfong ($) about the trip.

“The trip had been great,” Mr. Smigiel said. “We have been all over the country and Michigan stands out with anyone in the country. The combination of academics and athletics is unmatched.

“Brady is a priority and they have made that clear.”

Smigiel is regarded as a top-10 player at his position in the class. At 6-foot-5 and 205 pounds, the California native completed about 65 percent of his passes for 3,521 yards, 49 touchdowns and only three interceptions as a junior in 2024.

Other teams in the running for Smigiel include UCLA, Washington and South Carolina. Meanwhile, it’s unclear what other schools Bernhard is strongly considering, but being an Ohio native, it’d be difficult to turn down an offer from the Buckeyes if one ever comes.

It appears the Wolverines like both of them enough to take either one. Michigan will very likely only take one quarterback in this class, so it’s truly a race to see which quarterback pulls the trigger and commits first.

This is a fascinating development, so stay locked in with Maize n Brew for more updates as Michigan inches closer to getting its quarterback for the 2026 class.
