247Sports recently published an article detailing the recruitments of all 32 of their five-star recruits, and the Michigan Wolverines were mentioned for five of them:
The Michigan Wolverines have landed numerous five-star recruits over the years. From Rashan Gary in the 2016 class to Bryce Underwood and Andrew Babalola in 2025, there hasn’t been a shortage of elite talent in Ann Arbor recently.
As it pertains to the 2026 class, things have been pretty slow so far. However, official visit season is nearly upon us, which is Michigan’s chance to gain some momentum on the recruiting trail and land some top targets.
You certainly hope that some of those top targets are highly ranked players. 247Sports recently published an article detailing all 32 of the prospects they have rated as a five-star, and Michigan was mentioned for five of them.
Up first is the highest ranked offensive tackle in the country — Felix Ojo . The dominant 6-foot-6, 275-pounder from Texas was recently re-ranked and put at No. 5 overall in the nation, per 247’s personal rankings. The Wolverines are among the teams contending for him, but as of now, it appears he may stay in Texas and play for the Longhorns:
The elite offensive tackle hasn’t set a commitment date and continues to consider his options. The names to know include Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio State and Michigan as of now. No question others are continuing to battle, but we’re watching those four. So, who gets it done? Keep an eye on the Longhorns. We believe they will be tough to beat.
Another top offensive line target is Darius Gray . The Virginia native has said good things about the Wolverines in the past, and they seem to be in the thick of things, but are probably not at the top:
This is going to be an intense recruitment in the coming months. Georgia, LSU, Clemson, USC and Michigan are just a few of the top suitors pushing to land the elite offensive lineman. There is plenty of buzz around LSU right now, but this one could have some twists in it. He claims no leader right now and isn’t ready to make a commitment. When he does, look for him to announce live on the 247Sports YouTube channel.
The five-star linked to Michigan the most, by far, is running back Savion Hiter . With a top list of Michigan, Ohio State, Georgia and Tennessee, the Wolverines face stiff competition, especially with Ohio State having some momentum with hosting him most recently this spring. Regardless, Hiter’s recruitment is one the Wolverines can — and should — win out:
The country’s top ball carrier could see himself picking between a few rivals in the Midwest. There’s no question that Georgia and Tennessee are going to be in it until the end, but the most buzz has been around Ohio State and Michigan as of late. Ohio State feels great about its chances, but so does Michigan.
A recruit that was surprising to see the Wolverines included for was wide receiver Calvin Russell . Not much has been said about Michigan’s chances with the No. 21 overall player in the class, per 247, but it appears he has the opportunity to be a two-sport star in Ann Arbor:
He’s a freak, so it’s no surprise that the Big 3 in the Sunshine State are on him. Florida, Florida State and Miami are doing all that they can to keep him home at one of their respective schools. That said, Michigan is recruiting him to play football and basketball in Ann Arbor, so that approach is surely helping the Wolverines. Another top contender is Syracuse, which has been known for some splash recruiting wins as of late, so don’t rule the Orange out by any stretch.
And finally, there’s edge rusher Trenton Henderson . Michigan has done a good job recruiting the state of Florida historically, so perhaps Henderson could be one of the next greats to come from the Sunshine State.
However, it appears a Big Ten foe may have the upper hand as of now, with a few southern schools lurking as well:
We wrote a while ago that we felt as if USC was the clear favorite for one of the nation’s top defensive linemen. That still seems to be the case behind closed doors. That said, watch out for a few others like Auburn, Michigan, Florida State and LSU. We believe that he held off from committing to the Trojans because he wanted to take official visits. We’ll see if one of the other top contenders can swing things in their favor.
If you could only pick one, which of these five-star prospects would you want to commit to Michigan the most? Let us know down in the comments!
