Spirits should be high in Ann Arbor after Michigan won a national title. Amid considerable drama, the Wolverines concluded a 15-0 season with College Football Playoff wins over Alabama and Washington.
The season saw Jim Harbaugh serve two separate three-game suspensions for alleged recruiting violations and sign-stealing. While the program remains under NCAA investigation, the head coach won’t remain around to face any further discipline.
After years of flirting with an NFL comeback, Harbaugh landed another professional job as the Los Angeles Chargers’ head coach. He’ll take over a team that hasn’t won a division title since 2009.
Michigan promoted Sherrone Moore to head coach. The offensive coordinator won four games — including a monumental triumph over Ohio State — to secure Michigan’s path to the Big Ten championship and CFP berth.
Moore will usher the Wolverines into a new era without some significant players. Quarterback J.J. McCarthy, running back Blake Corum, and wide receiver Roman Wilson are among those who declared for this year’s NFL Draft.
Celebrations in Ann Arbor will quickly step aside for hopes of repeating as back-to-back champions. The spring game provides fans the first glimpse of the 2024 Wolverines.
