The Michigan football program unveiled their team captains ahead of the 2024 season, and none of these selections should be much of a surprise:
On Thursday morning, the Michigan Wolverines football program announced their four team captains ahead of the 2024 season — running back Donovan Edwards, tight end/fullback Max Bredeson, and safeties Makari Paige and Rod Moore.

Additionally, Michigan has named running back Kalel Mullings and edge Josaiah Stewart as alternate captains.
It’s no surprise to see Edwards, Bredeson and Paige as team captains. All three represented the Wolverines — alongside first-year head coach Sherrone Moore — at Big Ten Media Days last month. All three played a huge rule in last year’s national championship and are no-brainer selections for this honor.
Rod Moore is a very well deserving selection as well. He has been a critical piece of Michigan’s secondary since his true freshman season in 2021 and could have left for the NFL after a successful 2023 campaign. It’s a real shame he won’t be able to play this fall due to a torn ACL suffered in the spring, but it’s awesome to see his hard work and loyalty to the program be rewarded in this way.
This also continues a tradition at Michigan that only seniors are named team captains. Former head coach Jim Harbaugh laid the foundation for that during his time in Ann Arbor, and Sherrone Moore appears to be keeping that tradition alive (at least for this year).
All four players are expected to speak to the media on Thursday morning, so we will provide you with more news on Maize n Brew when it is available.
