Did Ohio State head coach Ryan Day take a shot at Jim Harbaugh this week? Michigan fans certainly think so.
During an appearance on 97.1 The Fan, Day opened up about the Buckeyes hiring Carlos Locklyn as their running backs coach.
Day applauded Locklyn because he didn’t come from a “football family.” The former four-year letterman at Chattanooga had to work his way up the ladder.
“Like some of us in this profession, he came up not in a football family but grew up and kind of had to figure it out on his own,” Day said, via Eleven Warriors . “He’s one of those people. When you listen to how he came up in this thing, he’s very appreciative of all the opportunities he’s gotten. But he’s earned them all, and he deserved them all. He really earned and deserved this opportunity.”
People in Ann Arbor believe some of those comments from Day were jabs at the Harbaugh family. After all, Jack Harbaugh was a coach for several years.
“Ryan Day running his mouth about the Harbaugh family is just sad,” one fan said.
Another fan replied, “That’s all he’s got t stay after Harbaugh shoved him in a locker? No wonder OSU is a beta program.”
Harbaugh has not responded to these remarks from Day. He’s currently busy preparing for his first year as the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers.
