Michigan fans are rightfully basking in the glow of their college football national title, but many are also concerned about the Wolverines’ men’s basketball program.
Tonight’s 64-57 loss to Maryland dropped was the fifth in a row for Michigan and dropped the Wolverines to 6-10 on the season and 1-4 in Big Ten play.
In what has become a familiar pattern this season, Michigan jumped out to an early lead, going up 33-21 at halftime, only to fall apart in the second half.
After last year’s disappointing 18-16 campaign, there were some Michigan fans who were already souring on Howard. While the Fab Five member has been dealing with health issues throughout the season, his team’s overall poor performance has drawn the ire of Maize and Blue faithful.
There’s no cover for Michigan basketball anymore.
4.5 years into the Juwan Howard era, the team sits alone in last place in the Big Ten.
The program is spiraling into a likely needed leadership change, and enough is enough: https://t.co/ql63bxlhZo pic.twitter.com/3KFZdkgdgH

This is the low point of the Juwan Howard Era.
(Until next game. And the game after that. And the game after that. Etc.)

No Dug, so never expected Michigan to win but the fact that U-M blew a big halftime lead and then fell apart again in a one possession game with 2:00 left on the clock is 100% the Juwan Howard brand.

Is Juwan Howard fired yet?

Juwan Howard’s 5th year at the helm of UM Bball … 6-10, no contributing freshman, a bunch of grad transfers, terrible roster construction, and awful in game coaching … besides that everything is fine. At least we won THE NATTY!!!

Michigan now has three days to prepare for its rivalry matchup against Ohio State at noon ET Monday.
While Howard won’t be able to cool off his hot seat with just one result, a win over the Buckeyes would keep the pitchforks away at least momentarily.
