Michigan Baseball ended the regular season with a series loss at home against Indiana over the weekend. Up next — the Big Ten Tournament in Omaha:
The regular season is over for the Michigan Wolverines after losing two of three against Indiana over the weekend. Here is a quick recap of how it all unraveled:
Game 1: Michigan loses high-scoring thriller
Game 1 packed a lot of excitement, but Michigan unfortunately ended up on the wrong end of things when all was said and done.
Indiana got the scoring started in the top of the first with two runs, but Mitch Voit quickly answered for the Wolverines with a two-run homer in the bottom of the frame to tie the game.
The Hoosiers exploded for five runs in the next two innings and it looked like they were going to run away with Game 1. However, Michigan got back in the game with a three-run shot by Jeter Ybarra in the fifth inning. Noah Miller followed it up with a home run of his own. All of a sudden, it was a one-run game.

Indiana grew the lead back to two with a homer in the sixth, but an RBI groundout from Voit in the eighth made it 8-7. Unfortunately, the Wolverines were never able to bring another run across, and the Hoosiers took Game 1.
Kurt Barr only lasted 2.2 innings and took the loss.
Game 2: Indiana cruises to blowout win over Michigan
Indiana brought the same offensive firepower to Game 2, but Michigan did not. The Hoosiers got the scoring started with four runs in the third inning. Michigan’s Brayden Jefferis hit a sac fly to make it 4-1, but Indiana continued to pile on after that.
The Hoosiers extended their lead to four in the fifth inning, and then they really pulled away in the sixth with three more runs to make it 8-1.
Michigan never showed any signs of life in this one, and the Hoosiers easily cruised to an 8-1 win. David Lally Jr. got the start for Michigan and took the loss.
Game 3: Michigan salvages series with important win
Michigan was able to avoid the sweep with a win in Game 3 to end the regular season on a high note. The Wolverines got off to a fast start with an RBI single from Voit. Michigan scored another run in the first on a groundout.
Benjamin Casillas made it 5-0 in the second inning with a three-run shot, but Indiana didn’t go away quietly. The Hoosiers scored the next three runs, and that set things up for an exciting finish.

Michigan closed this one strong, and it started in the seventh when Ybarra knocked in a run on an RBI groundout. The Wolverines brought in another run on an error to make it 7-3. The Wolverines tacked on one more in the eighth inning when Voit walked with the bases loaded.
That score held as Michigan ended up winning, 8-3. Tate Carey got the win on the rubber.
Michigan finished the regular season 33-21 overall and 16-14 in Big Ten play. If the Wolverines lost Game 3, they would’ve finished 15-15 with Nebraska, Penn State and Rutgers .
Up next for Michigan is the Big Ten Tournament in Omaha. The Wolverines are the 7-seed and are in Pool B with UCLA and Illinois. Michigan will start with a matchup against Illinois on Tuesday at 10 a.m. CT. The Wolverines will then play UCLA on Thursday at 10 a.m. CT.
