Jim Harbaugh broke through this season, leading Michigan to its first national championship since 1997.
It wasn’t a smooth ride though, as Harbaugh served two suspensions, including one for the Wolverines’ sign-stealing scandal.
Following the Wolverines’ win over Washington in the national title game last Monday, Harbaugh sat down with ESPN’s Rece Davis for a lengthy conversation, during which he was asked about how he felt the media treated him during the season.
“Eh, you know, it’s kind of one of those irrelevant things, really. You just don’t get bitter, you get better, no matter what. Have found a lot of success in that,” Harbaugh said. “Being maligned, maybe you think you’re getting treated unfairly, maybe you’re having success. Maybe you’ve been wronged in some way, maybe you’re angry. My go-to is always just go find some work to do. And it’s been a really good strategy. It’s paid off well in a lot of ways.”
Harbaugh is probably intentionally being vague here, which is good strategy. There’s no sense in providing any noteworthy quotes for people to hang onto.
Fresh off winning it all, Harbaugh has interviewed with the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers and Atlanta Falcons. He is also reportedly negotiating a possible contract extension with UM.
