The NFL is set to release its entire 2025 season schedule on Wednesday night, but as is tradition, several games were released ahead of time in anticipation of the full schedule release show.
Former Michigan Wolverines and current Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy is set to have one hell of an NFL debut — a primetime matchup with the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football.
McCarthy is from the state of Illinois — having played his high school ball at Nazareth Academy — so it’ll be an awesome homecoming for him.

McCarthy missed his entire rookie season after tearing his meniscus during his first preseason game. After his initial surgery, he needed a second operation due to further swelling in his knee. He received that second operation in November and has been trending in the right direction ever since.
With Sam Darnold now in Seattle, McCarthy is set to take over as QB1 in Minnesota this fall. With his debut being in his hometown against the team he rooted for growing up makes it even cooler. Hopefully he is fully healthy for the entire season and lights it up (except for when they play the Lions).
