J.J. McCarthy won’t be doing a couple of things at the NFL Combine on Saturday.
Due to hamstring tightness , he won’t run in the 40-yard dash or do the jumps during his workout on Saturday. That said, he will still throw.
It’s better to be safe than sorry but teams will still get a chance to see him throw and evaluate him before his Pro Day. If his hamstring tightness is better by then, he’ll be able to do a lot more.
McCarthy is one of the top quarterbacks in this year’s draft class but is expected to be picked after Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and Jayden Daniels. Still, there’s a chance he goes in the first round after he helped lead Michigan to a national title this past season.
He got to meet with a few teams during the NFL Combine, including the New York Giants.
He finished with 2,991 yards through the air, 22 touchdowns, and only four interceptions.
The NFL Combine got started this past week and is set to conclude on Sunday. The 2024 NFL Draft will then take place from Apr. 25-27.
