Team 144 was special, but if you’re looking for players to get excited about on Team 145, we’ve got you covered.
Michigan Wolverines fans watched some of their favorites get drafted just a few weeks ago, including Roman Wilson, who will now be wearing Pittsburgh Steelers colors on Sundays.
If you enjoyed watching Roman Wilson last season, you’ll want to keep an eye on Semaj Morgan in 2024. Fans might have a bad taste in their mouths after Morgan muffed a punt in the Rose Bowl , but there’s so much to like about his game.
As a freshman, Morgan appeared in all 15 games in 2023. He tallied 22 catches for 204 yards and two touchdowns, with the first score in his college career coming against Rutgers :

We all know the kind of separation Wilson was able to get in the end zone, but this catch by Morgan is impressive itself, especially from a true freshman. Pro Football Focus even had Semaj Morgan as one of Michigan’s highest-graded offensive players; only J.J. McCarthy and Blake Corum had better season grades after everything was said and done.
The coaching staff also utilized Morgan a few times in the run game. He had four rushing attempts for 67 yards and two touchdowns last fall, including his 44-yard run against Purdue.
When it comes to personality off the field, Wilson is still getting attention on social media and irritating Ohio State fans for his comments after The Game, when he called into question their toughness.

If you liked that about Wilson’s persona, you’re going to enjoy Morgan in 2024. Already this season, he’s issued a warning to other teams:

The role Semaj Morgan had in the Rose Bowl shows that the coaches trust his abilities even in big games. With the departure of Wilson and Cornelius Johnson to the NFL, Morgan could have a breakout season this fall.
If/when the Wolverines win a big game, you can bet Morgan is a player you’ll want to pay attention to afterward. I mean, we had a gem of an interview last season after Morgan returned a punt for 87 yards during the Big Ten Championship Game. With a number of big games on the schedule and a trip to Columbus on the calendar, there’s a lot of opportunity for that excitement and confidence to spill over in the post-game presser.
