Get ready for another late tip tonight, Michigan fans, as the Wolverines have a date with the No. 1 Auburn Tigers with a trip to the Elite Eight on the line. Here’s how and when you can watch the game:
While the majority of college basketball teams are devoting this week to the transfer portal , the Michigan men’s basketball team is one of a handful of squads still in March Madness.
After beating 12-seed UC San Diego and 4-seed Texas A&M, the Michigan Wolverines have a tough test ahead of them, with a matchup tonight against the tournament’s No. 1 overall seed, the Auburn Tigers.
It’s another late tip for the Wolverines, so Michigan fans may want to make time for a power nap or grab a Celsius on the way home from work.

The Tigers were the No. 1 team in the country for the vast majority of the season before losing three games in the first 15 days of March heading into the NCAA Tournament. Before that, they had lost just two games in the first three-and-a-half months of the season.
On paper, this is a tall task for the Wolverines, as Auburn is a team that advanced analytics love. Led by National Player of the Year candidate Johnni Broome , the Tigers are a team full of seniors that can shoot threes and shut you down, taking a 15-20-point lead over opponents before they have a chance to catch their breath. Had it not been for that late stumble, Auburn would be the heavy favorite to win it all.
Very few teams have beaten the Tigers this season, but the Wolverines have been playing their best basketball at the perfect time of year. Michigan’s size in the frontcourt will certainly play a factor, and if the Wolverines can take care of the ball and get to the free throw line, they have a puncher’s chance.
Michigan is playing with house money at this point. This season has already been a massive success, with Dusty May more than tripling the team’s win total since last season and completely changing the trajectory of the program. I would assume most fans aren’t expecting a win tonight, but in the words of Michigan’s former coach, it would be fun to shock the world.
