Here’s everything you need to know about Kendall Dudley and Ashley Sofilkanich, the two newest Michigan women’s basketball players added via the transfer portal:

College basketball’s transfer portal is open, and just like programs all across the country, the Michigan women’s basketball team is making additions to its roster.

The program officially announced the additions of UCLA wing Kendall Dudley and Bucknell forward Ashley Sofilkanich. Both players project to play big roles for the Wolverines next season.

Dudley appeared in all 37 games for the Bruins this past season. Posting a season-high of nine points against Fresno State, she averaged 1.9 points and 2.3 rebounds in 12.4 minutes per game while shooting 46.5 percent from the field.

Dudley gives Michigan its third McDonald’s All-American, joining Olivia Olson and Syla Swords. She also earned a gold medal with USA Basketball after playing with the 2021 FIBA Americas U16 team, averaging 7.8 points and four rebounds in five international games.

“Kendall was arguably one of the best players coming out of high school last year, being named a McDonald’s All-American,” Barnes Arico said in a press release. “She played with Olivia (Olson) with USA Basketball, played with Syla (Swords) in last year’s All-America game. She gives us that positionless player who can grab a rebound and lead the break. She can face up and knock down threes. She can take you off the bounce and is a phenomenal cutter. She does a little bit of everything and her versatility is exactly what we are looking for.”

The 6-foot-3 Sofilkanich comes to Michigan after two seasons at Bucknell. She dominated the Patriot League, earning the conference’s Player of the Year award after averaging 19.7 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. She also earned All-Defensive Team honors in both seasons there. She scored a career-high 44 points against Colgate on Jan. 22.

“Ashley is coming off a phenomenal year where she did nearly everything for her team,” Barnes Arico said. “She had a 40-point game, she gets double-doubles, she was the Patriot League Player of the Year. She gives us more depth in the post position, which is something we really need. She has the ability to score around the rim in a variety of ways with her length, giving us something we didn’t have last year. I think she is someone who is just scratching the surface of what she can do and can’t wait to see how she continues to grow as a player in our program.”

Both Dudley and Sofilkanich are talented enough to start with this squad and would fit well alongside the young trio of Olson, Swords and Olson. Te’Yala Delfosse , Macy Brown, Brooke Quarles Daniels and some of the 2025 recruits could also challenge for a starting spot, but Dudley and Sofilkanich will undoubtedly get minutes right away.

Here’s a look at where Michigan’s roster stands less than a week before the portal closes (April 22), listed with their remaining years of eligibility. Schools across the country have 15 scholarships available.
