Michigan has the seventh-best odds on FanDuel to win the Big Ten tournament, after ending the regular season on a three-game losing streak:
It’s the most wonderful time of the year for college basketball fans. Before the NCAA Tournament starts next week, teams across the country are competing in conference tournaments to improve résumés and punch their tickets into March Madness.
Michigan fans looking to wager on this week’s Big Ten Tournament can get some pretty good value. Taking a look at FanDuel , Michigan is +1200 to win the conference tournament, meaning if you wagered $10, the Wolverines winning it would net you $120 in profits.
After clinching the Big Ten regular season title, Tom Izzo’s Michigan State Spartans are the favorite to win the BTT at +260, with Maryland (+460) and Purdue (+650) not far behind.
Here is a complete look at the conference title odds:
Michigan State Spartans +260
Maryland Terrapins +460
Purdue Boilermakers +650
Illinois Fighting Illini +650
UCLA Bruins +700
Wisconsin Badgers +700
Michigan Wolverines +1200
Oregon Ducks +1700
Ohio State Buckeyes +4200
Indiana Hoosiers +4800
Southern California Trojans +15000
Rutgers Scarlet Knights +18000
Northwestern Wildcats +25000
Minnesota Golden Gophers +25000
Iowa Hawkeyes +25000
The Michigan Wolverines (22-9, 14-6) are a 3-seed in the conference tournament and will face either 6-seed Purdue (Michigan is 1-1 against the Boilermakers this season), 11-seed Rutgers (2-0) or 14-seed USC (1-0). Michigan will play the last game of the night on Friday, which is projected to tip-off around 9 p.m., but it will likely be later given the one-venue tournament format.
Of course, there’s a reason why Michigan is 12-to-1 to win the tournament. As good as this season has been for the Wolverines, they have struggled as of late, losing their last three games against Illinois , Maryland and Michigan State . Two of those losses have come by 17 points or more.
There’s plenty of reason to be worried about Michigan’s chances to make runs in the Big Ten Tournament or the NCAA Tournament. Turnover concerns, inconsistent rebounding and scoring droughts could lead to an early exit in the BTT. And with this three-game skid, the Wolverines may be a popular upset pick when the brackets get revealed this Sunday.
On Bracket Matrix , a site that aggregates bracket projections across the country, the Wolverines are projected as a 5-seed, along with Clemson, Oregon, and St. Mary’s. If a team just below Michigan in projections like UCLA or Louisville makes a run this week, the Wolverines could drop to a 6-seed.

As a betting man myself, if you’re looking for a long-shot bet, here are two teams with good odds I may be sprinkling:
- Illinois is finally healthy and got a generous draw. The Illini are also on the opposite of the bracket as Michigan State, so +650 odds are enticing.
- In more of a long-shot play, I like Oregon at 17-to-1. The Ducks have won seven games in a row, playing their best basketball entering the BTT, ala 2022 Iowa. The Ducks could ride that momentum to a tournament win, and would certainly jump Michigan if they can win four games in a row.
