Washington previously entered the portal on March 17th after Juwan Howard was fired. He withdrew from the portal on April 11th and is now headed back to the transfer portal.
Washington was the only true freshman on Michigan’s roster this season and struggled to crack the playing rotation. He played 145 minutes and scored 26 points total in 22 appearances, with most of his contributions coming late in games that were out of hand.
Washington is a top-150 recruit who committed to Michigan in November 2022 after de-committing from Ohio State.
Michigan has landed eight commitments in Dusty May’s first month on the job including two freshmen guards (Lornezo Cason and Justin Pippen) and several transfer guards (Roddy Gayle Jr., Tre Donaldson and Rubin Jones).
Washington entering the portal means that Michigan has at least one scholarship available for the 2024-25 season . Jace Howard (COVID year) and Nimari Burnett (COVID year and redshirt year) haven’t made any official declarations on their intention to use their extra eligibility.
