Michigan heads to Bloomington this weekend (Saturday, 1:00 p.m., CBS) for Dusty May’s homecoming appearance. The Hoosiers have dropped six of seven, and calls for Mike Woodson’s job are increasing in volume by the hour. The fanbase in Assembly Hall will be desperate for a fresh start that resembles what Michigan fans are enjoying now.
It’s an awkward situation for all involved, but also a crucial game for Michigan’s Big Ten title hopes. The Wolverines are tied in the loss column at the top of the league, and a win at Indiana would set up a rematch with Purdue with title implications.
The external noise will likely reach fever pitch by tip-off on Saturday — potentially even resulting in an announcement before the game — but the basketball stakes are high for the Wolverines.
“My mom lives in Bloomington,” May said after Michigan’s win on Wednesday night. “It is what it is. But I’m going there to try to win a freaking basketball game, and that’s it.”
