After playing five of six games away from Crisler Center over the last month, Michigan returns home for the holidays to host Purdue Fort Wayne on Sunday (1 p.m., B1G+ ). The Mastodons are the first of two tricky buy-game opponents for the Wolverines on either side of Christmas to wrap up non-conference play.
Fort Wayne is 8-4 on the year, with a non-Division I game against Defiance scheduled for this evening. The Mastodons will arrive in Ann Arbor with their highest KenPom ranking in program history, at 135th. Their best win was over Drexel at Daytona Beach, but they also played competitive games against Penn State (they led at halftime) and UCF (they led by 4 points late but lost by 7).
Fort Wayne leads the country in minutes continuity, and eight of its top ten contributors, including all five starters, were on last year’s roster. After finishing 11-9 in the Horizon League last year, this group ahs a chance to compete at the top of the league this year.
