It didn’t take long for former Michigan basketball coach Juwan Howard to find a new job.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski , the Brooklyn Nets are hiring Howard as an assistant coach for the 2024-25 season. He’ll join Jordi Fernandez’s staff.
Howard is no stranger to coaching in the NBA. Prior to landing the Michigan job in 2019, he spent six seasons as an assistant coach for Erik Spoelstra and the Miami Heat.
As a player, Howard suited up for a plethora of teams from 1994-2013, winning two NBA titles and earning All-Star honors in 1996.
After leading Michigan to the Elite Eight in 2021, Howard was considered a popular coaching candidate in NBA circles. He ultimately decided to stay in Ann Arbor.
Unfortunately for Howard, his final two seasons with the Wolverines were disastrous, winning just 26 games in that span.
Michigan replaced Howard earlier this year by hiring former FAU coach Dusty May.
It’s possible that Howard will use this stint in Brooklyn as an opportunity to rebuild his stock.
