V.J. Edgecombe, the 6-foot-5 five-star wing from Long Island Lutheran and Austin Rivers Southeast Elite, cancelled his visit to Michigan for this weekend and will next visit Duke for their Countdown to Craziness.
One source said the Michigan decision was “mutual.”
Duke head coach Jon Scheyer and assistant Jai Lucas were at LuHi on Wednesday for Edgecombe, the reigning Gatorade Player of the Year in New York.

Edgecombe will be at Duke the weekend of Oct. 20 when five-star forward Cooper Flagg of Montverde (FL) Academy, the No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2024, will also be on campus for his official visit. Flagg is down to UConn and Duke and is expected to decide sometime after the Duke visit. Five-star center Pat Ngongba of Paul VI (VA) will also be at Duke for Countdown to Craziness.
Edgecombe has already visited Florida (Sept. 16) and Baylor (Oct. 7) and is slated to visit Alabama (Nov. 4) and Florida State (Nov. 11).
He’s also considering St. John’s, UConn, Miami and the NBA G League.
No decisions have been made but it’s possible his recruitment could extend into the spring.
