The No. 1 recruit in the 2026 class, five-star OL Jackson Cantwell, is set to visit Michigan again in the near future. We have that and more in today’s Recruiting Roundup:
The Michigan Wolverines will soon be going through spring practices, which means recruiting visits are being planned for their top targets spanning multiple classes. One of their top targets will soon be on campus yet again for a spring visit, and he is among the most important players in his entire class..
No. 1 overall recruit in 2026 class sets Michigan visit for next month
Michigan landed the No. 1 recruit in the 2025 class, and the Wolverines are looking to do the exact same thing in 2026.
Jackson Cantwell, a 6-foot-7, 300-pound offensive lineman from Nixa, Missouri, already visited Michigan once back in December . Now, he’ll be back for another unofficial visit on March 22. That will be following visits to Miami and Ohio State.
“It was a fun visit,” Cantwell said of that previous visit to On3 . “I got to meet the coaches and see all the facilities. I talked to the strength coach and the personnel people. I think the campus is pretty nice. It looks like a good place to live. It was an enjoyable visit. I didn’t get to see The Big House because I was short on time. I definitely want to do that next time. I will probably be back. Maybe for a spring practice.”
Offensive line coach Grant Newsome has been Cantwell’s primary recruiter, but Sherrone Moore is also involved, with the head coach continuing to prioritize offensive linemen on the trail.
“Coach Moore has a vision that he wants the offensive line to be the heart and soul of the team,” Cantwell said. “Coming from being that (offensive line) coach, he knows why prioritizing that can be successful long-term. I think that’s exactly what he’s doing right now — getting his offensive line going, so it can be the best line possible.”
If Michigan lands Cantwell — assuming he stays the No. 1 recruit — they’d be the first school to land No. 1 recruits on the 247Sports composite in back-to-back years since they started tracking prospect rankings in 2000.
Top-100 OT speaks on including Michigan on top list
Speaking of talented offensive linemen, Michigan’s has been on the radar of 2026 four-star Felix Ojo for a while now. He visited Michigan for the BBQ at the Big House last year, and said earlier this winter that Michigan is “doing a great job” recruiting him, saying last month the program’s culture and trajectory make the Wolverines an appealing destination.
Ojo — who is ranked 70th overall and eighth among tackles — spoke with The Wolverine’s EJ Holland ($) on why he included Michigan in his top list.
“Michigan made my top-eight because of their offensive line development,” Ojo said. “They have two offensive line coaches on the staff — coach (Grant) Newsome and coach (Sherrone) Moore. We’ve been building a great relationship ever since I got the offer and went up there for the BBQ in the summer. Ann Arbor is a great place. Everything lines up for them to be a top school.”
Speaking highly of both coaches, Ojo hinted at coming back to Michigan for an official visit.
“I’m probably going to go back in the spring or for an official visit,” Ojo said. “It just depends on my schedule. But I just want to meet some of the players and see the environment of the school. I also want to see how the coaches interact with the players.”
Talented S hoping to visit Michigan next month
You can never have too many options in the secondary room; fans of the Detroit Lions know that better than anybody.
The Wolverines are pursuing 2026 safety Donovan Webb . Michigan secondary coach LaMar Morgan visited him in the Dallas area in the winter contact period last month, with Webb telling Holland ($) that Morgan made a strong first impression on him.
“Michigan has a lot of defensive backs that come out of there and go to the NFL,” Webb said. “My goal is to go to the NFL. If Coach Morgan can develop me to do that, then that’s what I’m looking for. It would be great.”
Webb has yet to visit Michigan, but that could change next month.
“I’m looking at going out there for a spring practice sometime in March,” Webb said. “I want to see how they operate. I want to see how coach Morgan coaches. I want to see if I can envision myself playing at Michigan.”
