The first betting line for Michigan’s Week 2 primetime showdown at Oklahoma has been released, and the Wolverines are an early underdog against the Sooners:
We are roughly two months away from the start of the college football season for the Michigan Wolverines , who will take on New Mexico under the lights at the Big House in Week 1.
But the non-conference game we are all really looking forward to is the game the following week at Oklahoma, a huge early-season test as the Wolverines and Sooners are both hoping to take that next step forward and reach the College Football Playoff.
FanDuel Sportsbook released the first betting line for the game, and they are giving OU the early edge. The Sooners are 2.5-point favorites, and the over/under is set at 53.5. The money line for Michigan is at +114, which means if you place a $10 bet for Michigan to win, you would net $1.40.
As you can see, the oddsmakers view this as a really close game that could go either way. Michigan and Oklahoma are somewhat similar entering the 2025 season. Both teams will have a new starting quarterback — John Mateer for OU, very likely Bryce Underwood for Michigan — and other new starters across the offense and defense. They will also have new play-callers, with the Wolverines bringing in Chip Lindsey to be the offensive maestro, and the Sooners hiring former Washington State offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle for the same position.
Additionally, Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables will take over play-calling duties for the defense after former coordinator Zac Alley left for the same role at West Virginia. He was one of the best defensive coordinators in the country when he was at Clemson from 2012-21, so it’ll be interesting to see how that works for him as he also juggles being the head coach in Norman.
I know it’s early, but how do you see this game going as of today? Do you think Michigan should be the underdog? Do you think Michigan will outright win this game? Let us know what you think down in the comments section.
