JUST IN: Max Bredeson has announced he is returning to Michigan for the 2025 season! MORE:
On Wednesday, Michigan Wolverines fullback Max Bredeson announced he is forgoing the NFL Draft and will be returning to Ann Arbor for the 2025 season.
Bredeson has been a part of the Michigan football team since his true freshman season in 2021. He embraced the opportunity — a walk-on one, at the time — and carved out a role for himself. After playing quarterback in high school, Bredeson transitioned to tight end and eventually slotted into the fullback role.
Throughout his time at Michigan, Bredeson has been a major contributor on and off the field. Four years after arriving as a walk-on, Bredeson was named a captain for the Wolverines in 2024. He was also named a finalist for the 2024 Burksworth Trophy, an award given to the most outstanding player who was originally a walk-on.
Merely looking at the stats won’t illustrate Bredeson’s abilities and impact. With 10 receptions for 121 yards over the course of his career, the numbers don’t exactly jump off the page. But that’s because his abilities and talent come through the intangibles.
With each and every snap, Bredeson’s toughness and physicality give major boost and fuel run game. The last two seasons especially showcased his impact through big hits and timely blocks that contribute to big plays. Often when running backs Kalel Mullings and Donovan Edwards made their way into the end zone, Bredeson was the one leading the way and helping pave the path.
He is the third Bredeson brother to play a varsity sport at Michigan, following the lead of his two older brothers, Ben and Jack. Ben was a four-year starting offensive lineman and two-year captain for the football team, while Jack pitched for the baseball team. Ben has spent five years in the NFL, currently playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers .
Welcome back, Max!
