The NCAA and Michigan had a hearing on June 6 and 7 involving the Connor Stalions advanced scouting investigation. At the time of publishing, there have been no leaks as to how the meeting went or what was discussed.
Earlier in the week, we asked Michigan fans what they felt the result of the hearing would be for head coach Sherrone Moore. And now the results are in.
46% voted that Moore’s punishment will be a 2-game suspension, while 43% believe his suspension will be more than two games. Just 11% of respondents voted no suspension at all.
Multiple reports last month said that Michigan is expected to self-impose a two-game suspension on Moore for Week 3 and Week 4 of the season against Central Michigan and Nebraska. ESPN reported that the NCAA can still punish Moore beyond the self-imposed suspension from Michigan.
We still could be a couple of months away from knowing the results of Michigan’s hearing. Maize n Brew’s Von Lozon broke down when the NCAA could rule on Michigan’s punishment , which could still be 8-12 weeks away.
Will Michigan potentially self-imposing a suspension on Moore dissuade the NCAA from adding additional games to the suspension? Or will the NCAA continue to double down without a willingness to compromise? The sooner Michigan’s punishment is announced, the better, specifically for Michigan’s players. Training camp will begin in late July/early August, and the noise surrounding an investigation dating back to October of 2023 shouldn’t be at the forefront of their thoughts.
