Of the teams that have had their win totals projected so far by FanDuel so far, Michigan is tied for the fourth-highest total in the Big Ten, along with Indiana, which went 11-2 last season in its first season under Curt Cignetti. The Wolverines are also tied with Miami and Louisville, which went 10-3 and 9-4 last season, respectively.
A trio of Big Ten teams (and Notre Dame) lead the pack, with Ohio State, Oregon and Penn State all projected at 10.5 wins. USC, which could be in for a rough season with Lincoln Riley on the hot seat, falls just behind Michigan with a projected total of 7.5 wins.
Michigan’s win total seems appropriate right now, as the Wolverines didn’t exactly live up to expectations last year by notching only seven wins in the regular season. With several key contributors leaving on defense, and a new offense in the works under new coordinator Chip Lindsey, it’s fair to wonder how far Michigan can climb in year two of the Sherrone Moore era.
The schedule for Michigan factors into the total as well. While we won’t truly know how difficult the slate of opponents is until the season gets under way, Michigan’s 2025 schedule looks a bit easier than its 2024 schedule on paper. Road games against USC and Oklahoma could prove to be tough, and the same can be said for home games against Ohio State and Washington. But the Wolverines do avoid Oregon, Penn State, Indiana and Illinois in 2025.
Do you think the projected total of 8.5 for Michigan seems too high, too low, or just right? Let us know down in the comments section below.
