Michigan wrapped up its preseason slate with a 96-92 win over Toledo on Friday night. The Rockets gave Michigan a much more difficult test than Oakland, resulting in a less satisfying feeling but more valuable film.
The Wolverines were terrific in the first half, leading 50-38 at the break, and looked ready to blow out Toledo after extending a 16-point lead early in the second. Instead, Toledo controlled the next 12 minutes, outscoring Michigan 38-25 to tighten the game to one possession inside the final media timeout.
Michigan proved its depth—three bench players reached double figures, led by freshman LJ Cason’s 20—and its starting lineup was able to close the game out, but the Wolverines also have some work to do before they open the season on November 4th.
