Michigan could soon have another quarterback on the roster. Reports indicate that ECU QB Jake Garcia visited with the Wolverines this week.
When fall camp rolls around for Michigan, it’ll include a quarterback room consisting of true freshman Bryce Underwood, Fresno State transfer Mikey Keene, redshirt freshman Jadyn Davis, and true freshman Chase Herbstreit, while Davis Warren will still be recovering from a torn ACL.
The Wolverines may add depth at quarterback, as they just hosted ECU transfer Jake Garcia.
Quarterback transfer Jake Garcia visited Michigan this week, a source tells @CBSSports .
Garcia, a former top-50 overall recruit who began his career at Miami, threw for 1,426 yards at ECU last year. Between Miami and ECU, he spent a year at Missouri.https://t.co/a9LYq3Ymzx pic.twitter.com/Yc5AXcNKzO

Garcia’s been a traveling man in his college days, starting out with the Miami Hurricanes for two seasons (2021-22), then transferring to Missouri (2023) before transferring to East Carolina (2024) last season. Despite being a former top-50 recruit, Garcia’s career hasn’t reaped many fruits to this point. Garcia threw for eight touchdowns and 12 interceptions last season at ECU for 1,426 yards with a 60.2 completion percentage. HIs only other action came with Miami, where he tallied 950 passing yards with seven touchdowns and four interceptions with a 61.2 completion percentage.
Pete Nakos of On3 Sports has predicted that Garcia will commit to Michigan. If Garcia does indeed become a Wolverine, he’d likely be veteran depth and not perceived as a legitimate starting option. Garcia wasn’t ranked in the top 1,000 transfer players by On3 Sports.

Even if Garcia isn’t a threat to push for QB1, he’d be welcomed depth for a Michigan QB room that’s a bit thin. However, when it comes to who will be Michigan’s starting quarterback in Week 1 against New Mexico, it’s bound to come down to Bryce Underwood and Mikey Keene.
